Bhutan, country of south-central Asia, located on the eastern ridges of the Himalayas.The northern part of Bhutan lies within the Great Himalayas; the snowcapped peaks in this region reach an elevation of more than 24,000 feet (7,300 metres). Bhutan is a Buddhist kingdom and is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.

Itinerary

This morning fly to Bagdogra. From Bagdogra airport, you will be driven for about 5 hours to Phuentsholing which is a border town in Southern Bhutan. After check in at the hotel, time permitting we will visit Zangtho Pelri, a small temple which represents the heaven of Guru Rinpoche. In the evening take a short walk in the streets and the market area of Phuentsholing

This morning after breakfast, you will be driven for about 7 hours to Thimpu. En-route to Thimpu, you will stop at Kharbandi Gompa and then stop for lunch en-route.  Continue drive after lunch and make another stop at Simtokha Dzong. Upon arrival in Thimpu, you will check in at your hotel.

Today we proceed on a sightseeing tour of Thimpu .  Begin the tour by first visiting Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) which is largest statue of Buddha in Bhutan. We then move on to King’s Memorial Chorten which is a memorial to Bhutan’s third King, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. The monument is a memorial as well as a monument of peace and prosperity.  This is followed by a visit to Changhakha Lhakhang which is a 12th Century Tibetan temple and monastic school. Later in the afternoon we visit the Textile and Folk Museums, Handicrafts Emporium and the Crafts Bazaar.

Today we get ready for a scenic journey to Paro (55 Kms / 1 Hour drive). En-route to Paro, stop at Ta Dzong which was originally built as a watchtower and now houses the National Museum. Later also visit Rinpung Dzong which has a long and fascinating history. After lunch, we will also visit Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang.  In the evening we will explore the colourful markets of Paro.

Today we proceed on an excursion to Taktshang Monastery (approx 5 hours roundtrip walk). It is one of the most famous and sacred monasteries on Bhutan. OR For those who do not wish to proceed a 5 hours long walk can enjoy a half day city tour of Paro visiting Cheela Pass which is located at an hours’ drive outside Paro on a thickly forested road. Later proceed to Dzongdrakha Goempa often called as mini Taktshang due to is cliff side location.

This morning you will be driven for about 7 hours to Phuentsholing with stops for lunch and quick photo stops along the scenic highway.

After an early breakfast you will be transferred to Bagdogra airport for your onward flight to Delhi.

A Non refundable Advance booking amount of INR5000 is must to book the tour. 100% tour cost to be paid 45 days before commencement of the tour.  For Any booking with in 45 days of tour date, 100% tour cost to be paid. For domestic tours ( within India) if the tour cost is less or equal to INR25000 PP than 100% amount has to be paid for booking the tour. Visa Process

Indian nationals intending to visit Bhutan are required to carry any of the two valid 'Travel Documents' (a) Valid Indian Passport having validity of minimum 6 months; and/or (b) Voter Identity Card, issued by the Election Commission of India. No Visa is required to visit Bhutan.
