The form of Shiva's wife Parvati worshipped at this temple is called Karpagambal , San Thome Basilica - San Thome Basilica is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Sant home, in the city of Chennai, India. It was built in the 16th century by Portuguese explorers, over the tomb of St Thomas, an apostle of Jesus. Afternoon we transfer to Mahabalipuram. Arrive in Mahabalipuram and check in to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.
This morning we shall proceed for sightseeing of Mahabalipuram & Kanchipuram. In Mahabalipuram visit - Shore temples - The Shore Temple is so named because it overlooks the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is a structural temple, built with blocks of granite, dating from the 8th century AD. , Arjuna's Penance - This magnificent relief, carved in the mid-seventh century, measures approximately 30m (100ft) long by 15m (45ft) high. Its huge size and scale is difficult to imagine just from photographs; a person standing on the ground in front of it could barely touch the elephants' feet. The Five Rathas, you won't believe that these shrines are carved whole from an outcrop of rock. Each of the five temples is dedicated to heroes from the great epic of the Mahabharata. Spend time admiring the detail of the carvings which include gods, humans and elephants and wonder why the temples are incomplete and were never consecrated. At Kanchipuram we shall visit - The prominent temples of Kanchipuram are Ekambareshwar Temple, Kamakshi Temple. Back to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Mahabalipuram.
This morning we drive to Pondicherry. Pondicherry or Puducherry , a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, is now a Union Territory town bounded by the southeastern Tamil Nadu state. Its French legacy is preserved in its French Quarter, with tree-lined streets, mustard-colored colonial villas and chic boutiques. Upon arrival at Pondicherry , check in at hotel. Rest of the day free to you , walk around the hotel. Visit the local life. Dinner and overnight stay at Pondicherry.
Today we shall visit Aurobindo Ashram which is one of the most important attractions in Pondicherry. Also visit Church of the Sacred Heart and the Pondicherry Museum. Enjoy a walk through the French Quarters. Back to hotel. Rest of the time free to you. Dinner and overnight stay at Pondicherry.
In time check out from hotel and transfer to Chennai airport for your onward flight.
